Replacing an older, tired house on a premier site with dynamic views of the bay and Boston skyline in the distance, we elevated the first floor of the new house to comply with flood zone requirements. The elegant kitchen, dining area and coffered ceiling living room as well as all the bedrooms have great views of the water and adjacent beach. The combination of roof forms, such as gables, sheds and turned down hips help to enliven the form without overpowering it. The wrap around porch on the street entry side and the water side is welcoming and makes the building feel very grounded. A consistent shape of windows, the shingle wall covering and the continuous roof of the porch unifies the vibrant forms of the house. |
